YouAreLovd was founded in early 2017 and is an organization that aims to serve the homeless community with love and positive energy. Over the last few years, our organization has focused on establishing itself within the community and we are now ready to grow our team.

Board Member: Community Planning

YouAreLovd is looking for a Board Member to advise on and participate in research, grant writing, resource development and allocation, and community involvement.  The Community Planning Board Member will serve as an ambassador of the brand and our values, while supporting community-based planning and engagement initiatives focused on housing, programming, outreach and policy.


  • Attend bi-annual board meetings at least virtually to lead discussion on rising challenges and new opportunities for YouAreLovd's participation around the [homeless] community. 

  • Participate in at least one speaking event per year as a representative of YouAreLovd on a board-approved subject matter that supports our mission.

  • As needed, advise on research and grant writing for funding and policy initiatives. 

  • Provide feedback as needed on public-facing materials and community project proposals. 

  • Together with the CEO, collaborate with local officials and other organization leadership to advise on programming.

  • Conducts themselves in external and internal discussions appropriately, including maintaining respectful discussions with and about the homeless



  • Bachelors Degree  (or higher) in Urban or Community Planning or similar

  • Thorough knowledge of New York City's (and greater preferred) government and housing issues

  • Successful experience working with civic associations and/or neighborhood groups

  • Experience conducting studies, writing reports and proposals, facilitating meetings with community and inter-agency groups

  • Excellent public speaking skills



  • Travel is not required, although events will generally be local to New York City.

  • This is a volunteer-based position, so there is no compensation or financial requirement at this point in time. 

  • In addition to the above listed activities, you will be expected to attend our events as much as possible.
